Who paused the campaign? The new history for ChatGPT Ads
Monday morning, performance has dropped — and nobody knows why. Was an ad paused? A budget changed? By whom, and when? Until now the answer in ChatGPT Ads was: guess. Now it's on the record: the Advertiser API recently started exposing an ad-account audit log, and in Chatvertise you'll find it as the new “History” page.
What the history shows
- Every change to the account: campaigns, ad groups and ads created, updated, activated, paused or archived.
- Before/after per field — e.g. status “active → paused” or a changed budget.
- Timestamp and actor for every entry, plus the affected object by name.
- Full-text search across actions, objects and names.
Importantly, the log comes straight from OpenAI, so it also captures changes made outside Chatvertise — directly in the OpenAI Ads Manager or through other API tools. That's exactly what makes it the reliable source: a history nobody can bypass.
What you'll use it for
Debugging: when numbers suddenly flip, the first question isn't “what's wrong with the auction?” but “what changed?” — the history answers it in seconds. Teamwork: once more than one person touches an account, the log replaces the “was that you?” guessing game. And for agencies it's client accountability: proof of what was adjusted when — including retroactively, for periods when nobody was keeping notes.
Where to find it
In the sidebar under “Advertising” → “History”. The view is available on every plan — transparency isn't a premium feature here. Open your account, check the history, and you'll probably see your own account's story in full for the first time.
