OpenAI Ads update, late September: audit logs, attribution controls, feed settings — and a hotel teaser
OpenAI expanded the Advertiser API noticeably again in late September. As always, here's the read sorted by what practically helps advertisers — with notes on what's already built into Chatvertise.
Audit log: the account gets a memory
The new audit-log endpoint returns the ad account's complete change history: who created, updated, paused or archived which campaign, ad group or ad, and when — with before/after per field, filterable by campaign, time range and actor. In Chatvertise this is already live as the “History” page; we wrote up why it matters for teams and agencies in a separate post.
Attribution becomes adjustable — with an event drilldown
Conversion reporting now accepts selectable attribution windows (7/14/30-day click, view-through off or 1 day) and a time basis: conversions can be bucketed on the day of the ad interaction or the day of the conversion. On top there's a drilldown that breaks conversions out by event name — including the click/view-through split and attributed revenue per event. This too is already in Chatvertise (the “Attribution & events” section on the Conversions page); our explainer article covers the background on attribution windows.
Feed settings: first write access for product feeds
Product feeds used to be strictly read-only through the API. Now each feed's name and the behavior of the search_eligible attribute can be changed — i.e. whether delivery respects the search-eligibility field in your product data. Small, but a signal: OpenAI is opening feed management to the API step by step. In Chatvertise you manage both right on the Product Feeds page as of today.
Multiple daily-limit rules at the account level
Account-wide daily spend limits now support several parallel or consecutive rules with their own rule IDs instead of a single one — handy for planning, say, a higher limit for Black Friday week in advance. The caveats remain: the feature requires postpaid invoice billing and an account-admin key; for everyone else, the per-campaign daily budget stays the tool of choice.
Spotted in the spec: hotel insights
New reporting endpoints for hotel inventory have appeared in the API specification — with fields like hotel name, brand, star rating and city. They don't respond live yet (our probes come up empty), but the direction is remarkable: OpenAI is apparently preparing a travel vertical for ChatGPT Ads. If you advertise in travel, keep it on your radar; we're watching and will build it in once it's real.
For API users: a deadline in August 2026
One maintenance note for everyone building against the API directly: the legacy revenue fields attributed_sales_amount, attributed_sales_count and attributed_sales_currency are marked for removal on August 17, 2026 — the order_created fields are the successors. Chatvertise switched to the new ones long ago; if you run your own scripts, plan the migration.
As always: we keep Chatvertise current with the Advertiser API — the three big items from this update are ready to use there today.
